Canning City - Forrestfield United 4:0 (0:0)

Goals: 1:0 Dave Mickler; 2:0 Dave Mickler; 3:0 Dave Mickler; 4:0 Kyle Mitsopoulos

Gosnells City - Mandurah City 0:3 (0:1)

Goals: 0:1 Christian Paschewitz; 0:2 Christian Paschewitz; 0:3 Michael Bobridge

Mandurah City maintained their 3 point lead at the top of the first division today with a 3-0 win over Gosnells City. Mandurah went ahead very early in the first half as Christian Paschkewitz was first to get to a loose ball in the Gosnells penalty area scoring at the second attempt.

Considering Gosnells lowly position on the league table some might have thought that Mandurah would have taken over the game after scoring so early, however, it was Gosnells who dominated much of the rest of the half winning most of the aerial battles whilst never really creating many clear cut opportunities.

Shane Crampton should have put Mandurah further ahead midway through the half however his effort went well over the Gosnells crossbar. Mandurah did not improve after the break and were lucky to stay ahead as they may have conceded a penalty just after the break. The dolphins did start to come back into the game as the half progressed with the introduction of Michael 'bobby' Bobridge making a significant difference.

Midway through the second half Graham Matthews hit the crossbar after a fine cross from Bobridge. Christian Paschkewitz made it 2-0 with a looping header soon after as he was first to react to a long ball into the Gosnells penalty area. Mandurah made it 3-0 within minutes as a cheeky piece of skill by Jeff Bright down the left set up a well deserved and well taken goal for Michael Bobridge.

Morley-Windmills - Dianella White Eagles 4:1 (1:0)

Goals: 1:0 Seita Hamamoto (4.); 2:0 Farrell Hedges (58.); 3:0 Farrell Hedges (64.); 3:1 Ray Rose (67.); 4:1 Farrell Hedges (75.)

An impressive Morley-Windmills side defeated Dianella White Eagles 4-1 at Wotton Reserve in the Football West State First Division on Saturday, June 30. The victory was due in large part to Farrell Hedges, who secured a hat-trick in his man of the match performance.

Morley struck quickly just four minutes into the game through new signing Seita Hamamoto, who stabbed home from eight yards after Scott McIlory’s corner was not properly cleared by the Dianella defenders, allowing Hamamoto the chance. The first-half was a defensive minded contest with good chances rare. However Remo McCann almost doubled Morley’s advantage in the 37th minute when he hit a fierce and curling shot from beyond 25 yards, only to see it brilliantly saved by Dianella goalkeeper Pedro Pavez. Dianella’s best opportunity in the opening stanza came through Paul Hickey, who shot in similar fashion to McCann seven minutes earlier, but saw his shot sail narrowly wide.

After the break the visitors had the first good opportunity through Dragan Njegic, but he saw his 20 yard effort well saved by Chris Ramsey. Windmills scored a well deserved second in the 58th minute through Hedges, who was assisted by Hamamoto who headed across the face of goal to Hedges who tapped in from point-blank range. Hedges scored his second and Morley’s third six minutes later when he turned and shot from the edge of the penalty area and beat Pavez with a rolling shot that the Dianella ‘keeper was slow to get down to.

Dianella salvaged some pride in the 67th minute through former Morley striker Ray Rose, redirected David Moschilla’s cross into the net from inside the six-yard box. Hedges completed his hat-trick 15 minutes from full-time by sneaking unmarked and knocking home a cross coming from the left-wing from 12 yards, finishing a sensational 4-1 victory in favour of Morley.

Morley-Windmills coach Brad Hassell was delighted with the comprehensive victory. "The result was well earned. We created quite a few chances and today we put those chances away thankfully," he said.

"We’re still in with a chance for the title now, but so are four or five other clubs, so it will be a close race."

Rockingham City - Balcatta 0:2 (0:2)

Goals: 0:1 Christian Debarro (16.); 0:2 Adrian Caliero (40.)

Balcatta condemned Rockingham City to their tenth loss of the campaign by out-shooting their hosts 2-0 at Dowling Street Reserve. Played in great spirits, the game started at cracking pace and early chances for both teams. Goalkeeper Craig Olenjik made a fantastic save to deny Christian Debarro in the 3rd minute, and shortly after Andrew Keary’s searching cross provided the impetus for Rockingham’s first serious attack. The first goal arrived via a 16th minute corner from Marc D'Ascanio which went to the feet of Ben Rogers before being tucked over the line by Debarro. Balcatta increased their lead a few minutes out from the break when Adrian Caloiero’s speculative shot from distance came to rest in the net. A solid start to the second half from Rockingham had Keary fire narrowly wide, and shortly after an Anthony Harris thunderbolt met with the same result. Rockingham lost some of their momentum, and to a degree control of the game, when hard-working striker Rob Olnaar was forced from the field by injury. This allowed Balcatta back in and only the brilliance of Olenjik prevented Daniel Franklin from adding a third to the visitors tally.

South West Phoenix - Ashfield 1:0 (1:0)

Goals: 1:0 Steve Suttie (40.)

Steve Suttie’s tenth goal of the season earned South West Phoenix a 1-0 win against Ashfield in chilly conditions at Bunbury’s Soccerdome. Ashfield settled the better and should perhaps have gone ahead when Patrick Quinn’s pass was intercepted by Julian Piromalli who surged forward before squaring to Rydeen Botha whose mis-timed shot cleared the crossbar. A couple of positional changes worked a treat for the hosts as Greg Hayes hit the post and Suttie placed narrowly wide. Phoenix’ reward arrived five minutes from the break when Ryan Risdon’s long made it’s way to Suttie who appeared to tame the ball with his hand before slotting past the goalkeeper from just outside the 18-yard box. Goalscoring opportunities were few and far between after the break with both sides effectively negating their opponents attacks. Gary Mayers almost put away the hosts second by firing past Drazen Saric only to have a back-tracking Adam Purcell slide the ball from off the line. Ashfield’s best chance resulted from a Purcell cross which was flicked on by Botha to an unmarked Igor Novakovic who volleyed disappointingly wide from close-range. Phoenix were given another reprieve not long after when neither Novakovic nor Andy O’Neill was able to net a goalmouth scramble.

Queens Park - Bayswater City 3:2 (2:1)

Goals: 1:0 Ricky Simpson; 2:0 Ian McKean; 3:0 Dimce Taneski; 3:1 Rory Grant; 3:2 Sal Marrapodi
